We serve families with a broad range of academic needs. In order to support that spectrum, our classes can be taken a la carte or by the day. We empower you to build your child’s education through choosing the classes you need.

Welcome. I’m Melanie Williams, Director of Haywood Haven. Like you, I had a vision for my children’s education that didn’t mesh with the options available to me. Haywood Haven exists because I wanted my children’s learning years to include rigorous academic training, classroom experience, and the opportunity to build community while safeguarding their innocence and the joy of childhood. Our classes
When you think about your kiddos first years in school, do you imagine them finger painting letters, learning phonetic spelling rules through dances and play, dressing up as the history characters they study, gaining math foundations with hands-on manipulatives, building fairy houses with all their friends under a big tree during lunch? What a coincidence! We share your vision for a fun, nurturing, classical education that brings nature and play into the classroom and takes the learning outdoors as often as possible.
The focus for our 3rd through 5th grade students is on investigating, testing what they learn, and strengthening the foundations they built in early elementary. We love the vivacious, curious nature of these students. They inject a lot of energy into our campus life. Classes at this level still focus largely on hands-on experience.
We commonly refer to these grades as our Middle School. Developmentally this is the phase of education where students move into developing logic and asking good questions that lead to knowledge. They work to apply the foundational skills garnered in previous grades and to deepen their understanding of God’s design and purpose for them.
Also known as our Junior High classes, the focus at this point is mastery and expression. Our ultimate goal is that students will learn God’s “good, pleasing, and perfect will” for their life. During these classes, students hone in on maximizing strengths and minimizing weaknesses. They learn how to think critically and speak persuasively. They’ll discover their place in the world and continue to seek God’s unique gifting and purpose for their lives.
